She was caught attempting to smuggle 130 poisonous frogs worth an astonishing 36 million rupees to Brazil, with a final destination of Sao Paulo, Panama.
The frogs, smaller than a human thumb, were found crammed in small film canisters within the woman’s luggage, suffering from severe dehydration due to poor conditions.
According to authorities, the black market value of each frog is $1000. These amphibians, often referred to as the ‘jewels of the rainforest,’ are native to various forests across Central and South America.
Their skin glands secrete a potent poison, historically used by natives on hunting arrows. This poison is lethal enough to kill small animals.
