Danish Football Star Christian Collapses During Match

Copenhagen: Danish football star Christian Eriksen suffered a medical emergency during a friendly match against Ukraine on Sunday, causing the match to be abandoned immediately.
According to details, the 34-year-old midfielder suddenly collapsed in the 79th minute of the game while clutching his chest. The incident caused panic among players and officials, prompting medical staff to rush onto the field without delay. At the time of the incident, Denmark was leading 2-1.
The Danish Football Federation later confirmed on social media that Eriksen was conscious and receiving medical attention. He was described as being in stable condition and was transported to hospital for further examination.
Initial reports suggested that Eriksen was unconscious for a brief period before regaining awareness following on-field treatment. Team doctors later stated that his condition had stabilised and that his implanted pacemaker was functioning properly.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the football world, as it marks the second time Eriksen has collapsed during a match due to a cardiac-related emergency. In 2021, he suffered a cardiac arrest during a European Championship match, where quick medical intervention saved his life.
Following that incident, Eriksen underwent the implantation of a pacemaker and later made a remarkable return to professional football. He went on to play for clubs including Brentford and Manchester United and is currently representing German side VfL Wolfsburg.
After Sunday’s incident, players and officials from both teams gathered on the pitch in concern. Denmark’s captain praised the swift response of medical teams and said the most important outcome was that Eriksen was recovering.
The Danish team doctor confirmed that Eriksen remains under observation in hospital and continues to be monitored closely. He also relayed that the player had sent a message to teammates reassuring them that he was fine.
