Rawalpindi: The popular hill station of Murree witnessed an extraordinary influx of tourists from across the country during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, leading to heavy traffic pressure and bustling activity across major tourist points.

According to official sources, more than 42,000 vehicles entered Murree since the first day of Eid, creating a significant surge in visitor flow to the scenic destination.

Despite the overwhelming number of tourists, authorities confirmed that traffic movement on major roads remained largely smooth due to timely management and coordinated arrangements by the City Traffic Police Murree.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree, Munir Ahmed Hashmi, said a comprehensive traffic management plan had been implemented to handle the seasonal rush, especially considering the challenges posed by narrow and two-way roads in the hill station.

He said traffic police teams were deployed at key points and actively monitoring the situation on the ground to ensure uninterrupted flow and public convenience.

A spokesperson for the City Traffic Police stated that CTO Murree and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Traffic were personally supervising arrangements, regularly visiting major roads, intersections, and tourist hotspots including Murree City, Mall Road, Murree Expressway, Jhika Gali, and Kashmir Point.

More than 200 traffic personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, working round-the-clock to manage traffic flow, assist visitors, and maintain discipline on the roads.

Tourists were urged to follow traffic regulations, avoid double-line driving, illegal parking, and dangerous overtaking. Authorities emphasized that vehicles should only be parked in designated areas to prevent congestion and ensure smooth mobility.

Officials further stressed that public cooperation is essential for effective traffic management during peak holiday periods, especially in high-altitude tourist destinations like Murree.

Continuous monitoring and additional deployments have been arranged throughout the Eid holidays to promptly respond to emergencies and maintain order.

Tourists have also been advised to contact the City Traffic Police Murree helpline at 051-9269200 for assistance, guidance, or real-time traffic updates.
