Murree on High Alert Amid Forecast of Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms

Rawalpindi: Rescue 1122 Murree has been placed on high alert following a weather forecast predicting rainfall, thunderstorms, and adverse weather conditions in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas.

Authorities have urged residents and tourists to adopt precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period to ensure safety.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and dust storms are expected in Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining regions on June 4 and 5.

The forecast also warns of heavy downpours at isolated locations, raising concerns over possible landslides and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

On the directives of District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Murree, Engineer Kamran Rashid, all rescue stations, ambulance services, and emergency response teams have been mobilized and placed on high alert to ensure swift and effective response in case of any emergency.

Rescue personnel have been instructed to remain fully prepared with necessary equipment and machinery to deal with weather-related incidents.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions, exercise extreme caution in landslide-prone areas, and stay away from streams, rain-fed waterways, and other hazardous locations. Tourists and local residents have also been urged to stay updated on weather conditions and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by authorities.

Officials emphasized that in case of any emergency or need for assistance, citizens should immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline. They reiterated that Rescue 1122 Murree remains fully prepared to safeguard lives and property and is utilizing all available resources to respond to any potential emergency situation.
