Thunderstorms, Rain Expected Across Punjab Until June 5

Islamabad: Thunderstorms and rain are expected in most districts of Punjab from today until June 5, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The Met Office said a westerly weather system is likely to enter the upper parts of the country from today, bringing rain, thunderstorms and strong winds to several regions.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms may also occur at isolated places across Punjab during the forecast period.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Mansehra due to the risk of glacial lake outburst floods triggered by intense heat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mountainous areas.

The Meteorological Department warned that weather conditions are likely to remain extremely hot in Sindh and Balochistan despite the incoming weather system.

According to the PMD, the highest temperature on Monday was recorded in Nokundi, where mercury soared to 49 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures were recorded at 47°C in Sibi and Dalbandin, 42°C in Sukkur, and 40°C in Bahawalpur, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan and Chilas.

Quetta and Gilgit recorded 38°C, while Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar experienced temperatures of 37°C.
