US Embassy Islamabad Celebrates 250 Years of US Freedom

Islamabad: The US Embassy in Pakistan on Saturday hosted a landmark Freedom 250 celebration in Islamabad, marking 250 years of United States (US) democracy and highlighting the longstanding partnership between the United States and Pakistan.
The event formed part of a year-long global series of commemorations leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence.
A wide range of distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including government officials, business leaders, academics, civil society representatives, and cultural figures, reflecting the breadth of the US-Pakistan relationship.
Addressing the gathering, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker described the occasion as both a milestone in American history and a celebration of the shared values that unite the two countries.

“Tonight, we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, nearly 80 years of friendship between our two peoples, and everything we are going to build together in the years ahead. The best is not behind us. It is in front of us, and we are going to get there together,” Baker said.
She noted that the anniversary reflects America’s founding ideals of liberty and democracy, which continue to inspire people around the world.
The ceremony featured a presentation of colours by the US Marine Corps Colour Guard, performances of the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States, and musical performances by the US Air Force Central Command Band and Pakistani singer Bilal Saeed.
The celebrations concluded with a fireworks display over Islamabad, symbolising both America’s 250th anniversary and the future of cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
Freedom 250 is being observed by US diplomatic missions worldwide as part of a year-long campaign commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The initiative was launched by US President Donald Trump under the theme, “A New Era of American Greatness.”
