Karachi: A rise in temperature has been predicted in Karachi from today as the Meteorological Department has warned of a heatwave affecting most districts of Sindh from June 7 to June 12.

According to the Met Office, Karachi is expected to experience extremely hot and humid conditions today, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 38°C. However, under the ongoing heatwave conditions, the “feels-like” temperature could rise as high as 43°C due to high humidity levels.

The Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide heatwave alert for the same period, warning that temperatures may remain significantly above normal across several regions.

In Karachi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 30°C. Officials said sea breezes are currently blowing at around 15 to 22 kilometers per hour, while humidity levels have been recorded between 72% and 75%, contributing to the intensity of the heat.

The weather in the city is expected to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with little relief forecast during daytime hours.

The Met Office has advised citizens, particularly children, women, and the elderly, to take precautionary measures during extreme heat conditions. The public has been urged to avoid direct sunlight between 10 am and 4 pm and to increase water intake to prevent dehydration.

Officials further stated that the intensity of heat is likely to persist in Karachi from June 8 to June 12, with conditions remaining uncomfortable due to sustained humidity levels.
