Murree Receives Over 90mm Rain as First Monsoon Spell Hits

Murree: Murree received more than 90 millimetres of rainfall over the past 24 hours as the season’s first monsoon spell reached the hill station, bringing cooler temperatures and drawing large numbers of tourists.

According to the district administration, all relevant departments have been placed on high alert following the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s forecast of widespread monsoon rains.

Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said the district administration, Rescue 1122, municipal authorities and other line departments have been mobilised to respond to any emergency.

He said special measures are being taken to clear rainwater from roads, ensure the smooth flow of traffic and continuously monitor major highways and vulnerable areas.

The deputy commissioner added that the Meteorological Department has forecast more rainfall during the first week of July. He urged tourists planning to visit Murree to check the latest weather updates before travelling and follow all safety advisories issued by the administration.
