Three Sentenced to Death in Double Murder Case

Rawalpindi: A court has sentenced three men to death in a double murder case, while Rawalpindi Police have reported several other major actions involving an alleged assault on a child, drug trafficking, public complaints and fireworks at a wedding.
The developments were shared by Rawalpindi Police in a press release issued on September 3, covering cases involving serious crimes and public safety.
A court has handed down death sentences to three men convicted in a double murder case registered at Rawat Police Station in February 2024.
According to police, Umair, Yasir and Mohsin were involved in the shooting deaths of two citizens following a previous dispute.
The court sentenced all three convicts to death and imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each, taking the total financial penalty to Rs3 million.
Police said the convictions were secured after the prosecution presented substantial evidence before the court.
Rawalpindi Police described the verdict as an important step towards delivering justice to the victims and their families.
In another case, Ratta Amral Police arrested a man accused of harassing and attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl.
Police said the suspect was arrested after a complaint alleged that he had harassed the complainant’s niece and attempted to sexually assault her.
A case has been registered against the accused, while SP Rawal Babar Bakht Gondal said the suspect would be presented before the court along with evidence collected during the investigation.
Police said crimes involving the harassment or sexual abuse of women and children would be dealt with strictly.
Meanwhile, a court sentenced a man identified as Akhtar to nine years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs80,000 in a drug trafficking case.
According to police, Dhamial Police arrested Akhtar in February 2025 after allegedly recovering 1.06 kilograms of hashish from his possession.
Police said the conviction was secured through evidence presented during the prosecution of the case.
The force said action against drug suppliers would continue as part of efforts to combat narcotics in the district.
Separately, SSP(Investigations) Saifullah and SP (Headquarters) Muhammad Saleem Khattak held an open court at Police Lines Headquarters to hear complaints from citizens.
The officers listened to the grievances and directed the relevant officials to take appropriate legal action and resolve the matters within the specified timeframe.
They instructed officers to ensure timely responses to citizens’ complaints and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.
According to police, improving public service delivery and protecting the lives and property of citizens remain among the department’s key priorities.
Ratta Amral Police also arrested a man for allegedly setting off fireworks during a wedding ceremony.
Police said fireworks were recovered from the scene, while efforts were underway to apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the incident.
SP (Rawal) Babar Bakht Gondal warned that individuals who put citizens’ lives and safety at risk through the use of fireworks would face legal consequences.
The latest developments underline Rawalpindi Police’s ongoing action against serious offences, drug trafficking and activities considered threats to public safety, while also highlighting efforts to address citizens’ complaints.
