Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Murree have finalized a special traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate commuters, and strengthen security arrangements during Youm-e-Ashura (10th Muharram).
According to a CTP spokesperson, the plan has been devised on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi, while DSP Traffic Murree Ghazi Sohail Shahzad will oversee its implementation.
Under the plan, the Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir (RMK) Road will remain closed to traffic from 1:00 am until the conclusion of the 10th Muharram procession in Tret on Friday, June 26.
Traffic diversions will be enforced as required on New Murree Road and Kotli Sattian Road through Mohra Syedan, Bhamrot Syedan, Ban Bazaar and Sangseri Bazaar to facilitate security and traffic management.
The spokesperson said no vehicles would be allowed to enter Lalazar Turn, Civil Hospital Murree, Lower Mall, Marhaba Chowk and Imtiaz Shaheed Road from 1:00 a.m. until the end of the procession.
To assist commuters, traffic wardens and officers have been deployed at Bansra Gali, Ghora Gali, Tret Bazaar, Salgran and the Satra Mile Toll Plaza to guide motorists towards alternative routes.
The CTP advised citizens travelling between Murree and Rawalpindi or Islamabad during the specified hours to use the Murree Expressway and strictly follow instructions issued by traffic personnel.
Citizens can contact the traffic helpline at 1915 or 051-9269200 for traffic updates, complaints and emergency assistance.
