Tourists Heading to KP Hills Urged to Follow Safety Guidelines
News Desk
Peshawar: Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have urged tourists to exercise caution and follow designated travel timings as several popular hill destinations reopen for the summer season.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (KITE) Project of the KP Culture, Tourism and Archeology Department issued a travel advisory for visitors planning trips to the province’s scenic mountainous areas.
According to the advisory, tourists can travel to Chitral, Swat and the Galiyat region, while access to Kumrat Road in Dir district remains restricted to 4×4 vehicles because of road conditions.
The authorities have also imposed specific visiting hours at some key tourist destinations. The Babusar Pass is open from 6am to 6pm, while the road leading to Saiful Maluk Lake is accessible between 9:30am and 4pm.
KITE advised visitors heading towards mountainous areas to plan their journeys according to the designated timings and remain alert to changing conditions during their trips.
The advisory also placed emphasis on responsible tourism, urging visitors not to light unnecessary fires and to dispose of waste properly to protect the fragile environment of the region.
Tourists were also asked to avoid activities that could harm forests and wildlife and to cooperate with KITE and the Department of Tourism in preserving the natural environment.
The department said visitors can contact the KITE DoT helpline at 1422 for travel-related information or assistance in case of an emergency.
With major tourist destinations reopening, authorities have stressed that adherence to safety rules and environmental guidelines will be essential for ensuring a safe and sustainable summer tourism season in KP.
