Islamabad’s Rainy Relief Comes in Patches

Islamabad: A sudden burst of monsoon rain brought relief from the recent heat in parts of Islamabad on Sunday, but the rainfall remained highly uneven, with several sectors receiving little or no rain.

Heavy showers were reported in parts of the federal capital, including the Red Zone, F-6 and G-6, turning the weather noticeably cooler and more pleasant. However, residents in several other sectors saw no significant rainfall despite dark clouds covering parts of the city.

The scattered showers came as the eighth spell of the monsoon was forecast to affect large parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Sunday through September 5.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), thunderstorms and rain are expected in several Punjab districts, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Rawalpindi. Faisalabad, Chakwal, Jhelum and Mandi Bahauddin are also likely to receive showers.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain has been forecast for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner and Malakand.

Authorities have warned that the latest spell could bring more than just relief from the heat. Landslides are possible in Murree, Galiyat and other mountainous areas, while heavy rainfall may trigger flash flooding in vulnerable streams and rainwater channels.

The uneven rainfall in Islamabad also highlights the unpredictable nature of monsoon weather, where one part of the city can receive intense showers while nearby areas remain largely dry.

Residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert as the latest spell continues.
