Islamabad: Millions of Muslim pilgrims gathered on the sacred plains of Mount Arafat on Thursday to observe Wuquf-e-Arafah, the most significant ritual of Hajj, as emotional scenes of prayer, repentance, and devotion unfolded under the scorching skies of Makkah.
From early morning, waves of pilgrims dressed in white Ihram filled the vast plain of Arafat, raising cries of “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik,” reciting verses from the Holy Quran, and offering heartfelt supplications in one of the most spiritually powerful moments of the Islamic calendar.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, pilgrims arrived at Arafat before dawn to perform Wuquf-e-Arafah — the central pillar of Hajj observed in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Throughout the day, pilgrims remained within the designated boundaries of Arafat, spending hours in worship, remembrance of Allah, repentance, and prayers for forgiveness, peace, and blessings for the Muslim Ummah.
The plains echoed with Talbiyah, Takbeer, and Quranic recitations as worshippers immersed themselves in deep spiritual reflection and humility.
Saudi authorities said the annual Arafah sermon would be delivered at midday to highlight the significance and virtues of the sacred day, after which pilgrims would offer combined and shortened Dhuhr and Asr prayers following the Prophetic tradition.
As sunset approaches, pilgrims are expected to begin their journey towards Muzdalifah, where they will perform combined Maghrib and Isha prayers and spend the night under the open sky in prayer and contemplation before continuing the next stages of Hajj rituals.
The gathering at Arafat is regarded as the spiritual climax of Hajj, symbolising equality, submission, and unity among Muslims from across the world.
