Rain Brings Relief to KP, Thunderstorms Expected in Karachi

Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing contrasting weather conditions, with rain bringing cooler temperatures to the northern regions while Karachi braces for thunderstorms and much of Balochistan continues to endure hot and dry weather.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is expected to remain partly cloudy on Sunday, with light rain and thunderstorms likely in different parts of the city.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.8°C, while the current temperature stood at 30°C. Humidity was measured at 78 percent, with southwesterly winds blowing at 11 km/h. The city’s maximum temperature is expected to reach between 33°C and 35°C.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rainfall has provided relief from the heat, particularly in Peshawar and several upper districts, making the weather pleasant. The PMD has forecast more rain in Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Hazara, Dera Ismail Khan and Malakand divisions.

Peshawar recorded a temperature of 29°C with humidity at 72 percent. Other temperatures included Chitral at 21°C, Dir 20°C, Malam Jabba 22°C, Saidu Sharif 25°C, Bannu 32°C, Dera Ismail Khan 33°C and Abbottabad 25°C.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has extended its rain alert across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until August 5, directing relevant departments to remain on alert and urging residents to take precautionary measures.
