Islamabad: As millions of pilgrims gather for Hajj, Saudi Arabia has deployed advanced artificial intelligence-based weather forecasting systems to monitor conditions at the holy sites, with temperatures in Mount Arafat expected to soar to 45 degrees Celsius on the Day of Arafah.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the National Center for Meteorology has intensified technical and operational preparations for Hajj 1447 AH by introducing an integrated weather monitoring network powered by artificial intelligence, satellite imagery, weather radars, and fixed and mobile observation stations.

Saudi authorities said the system is designed to improve forecast accuracy and provide real-time weather updates to agencies responsible for managing pilgrim safety and logistics during the peak Hajj period.

The monitoring network includes five weather stations operating across Arafat and Muzdalifah to track changing weather conditions and support emergency response planning.

Officials warned that temperatures at Arafat are likely to reach 45°C, accompanied by active winds and partly cloudy conditions, increasing the importance of rapid weather monitoring and field preparedness.

The advanced forecasting technology is aimed at helping authorities respond quickly to heat-related risks and changing environmental conditions affecting millions of pilgrims gathered at the holy sites.

Saudi officials said the kingdom continues to expand the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence to improve safety, crowd management, and operational efficiency during one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.

The scouts provided guidance and humanitarian assistance to pilgrims, particularly helping elderly worshippers, persons with disabilities, and those who had lost their way during the movement between holy sites.

Authorities said the volunteers played a key role in directing pilgrims to their accommodations and facilitating smooth movement amid the massive crowds gathering for Hajj rituals.

In addition to field support, more than 350 scouts and scout leaders were deployed across seven hospitals and seven health centers in Makkah and surrounding holy sites to assist healthcare teams under the Ministry of Health.

The volunteers helped organize visitor flow, support patient admissions and discharges, accompany patients, and transport elderly pilgrims and patients between clinics and medical departments using mobility carts.

Officials said the large-scale volunteer operation reflected a high level of preparedness aimed at strengthening healthcare and field services during one of the busiest phases of the annual pilgrimage.

Saudi authorities continue to expand volunteer and emergency support systems to ensure safer and smoother movement for pilgrims as Hajj rituals progress through the holy sites.
