News Desk

Islamabad: Test cricketer Umar Amin has expressed his desire to return to the national team before considering taking on the role of captaincy.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Geo News, Amin emphasized his consistent participation in both red and white ball cricket, highlighting his specialization in red ball cricket.

Amin stressed his adaptability to modern cricket, focusing on playing with a positive mindset rather than introducing new shots. He attributed his regained form to his consistent participation in first-class cricket, which in turn eased his performance in white ball cricket.

Amin mentioned his usual batting positions as an opener in white ball cricket and number three in red ball cricket. He also emphasized the importance of regular participation in club cricket to address any technical issues.

Reflecting on his career after being dropped from the Pakistan team in 2015, Amin emphasized his dedication to domestic cricket across all formats, boasting numerous centuries. He noted the positional changes in the national team, citing Shan Masood’s inclusion at number four during the T20 World Cup while expressing readiness to adapt to different roles if given the chance.

Amin also highlighted his bowling capabilities, having taken 50 wickets in first-class cricket whenever required.

Despite being out of the national team, he remains committed to playing wherever opportunities arise, acknowledging the learning curve in cricket over time.
