Rizwan, Babar climb in latest ICC Test rankings update

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and former captain Babar Azam have both improved their positions in the latest ICC Test batting rankings following the most recent update.

Rizwan and Babar each moved up one spot, now sitting at 20th and 21st respectively. Middle-order batters Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha maintained their positions at 25th and 27th.

Test captain Shan Masood dropped one place to 44th with 558 rating points, while opener Imam-ul-Haq remained steady at 52nd with 522 points. Abdullah Shafique, who last played a Test against South Africa in 2025, climbed one position to 54th with 517 points. Young batter Abdullah Fazal slipped to 97th.

At the top of the batting charts, England’s Joe Root continues to lead, followed by Harry Brook in second place and Australia’s Travis Head in third.

In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Noman Ali held on to seventh place with 817 rating points. Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas each gained one position, moving up to 25th and 27th respectively.

Sajid Khan remained 31st, while Hasan Ali and Khurram Shahzad were ranked 38th and 46th. Asif Afridi and Salman Ali Agha slipped to 83rd and 90th positions.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate the Test bowling rankings, with Australia’s Mitchell Starc in second place. Pat Cummins climbed to third, overtaking New Zealand’s Matt Henry.
