South Asia Cannot Afford Another Crisis, Pakistan Warns India
News Desk
Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a stern warning to India, saying any military misadventure against it would have consequences extending far beyond the region, after controversial remarks by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
In a strongly worded statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) rejected the Indian army chief’s comments suggesting Pakistan should decide whether it wanted to remain “part of geography and history,” calling the remarks dangerous and irresponsible.
The military’s media wing said Pakistan was a globally recognised nuclear state and an “indelible reality” of South Asia, accusing India’s leadership of being unable to accept Pakistan’s existence even after decades of independence.
Describing the comments as reflective of a “jingoistic and myopic mindset,” the ISPR warned that such rhetoric had historically pushed the region towards repeated conflicts and crises.

It stressed that threatening the existence of a sovereign nuclear country could not be considered strategic signalling, but rather demonstrated “warmongering and reckless thinking.”
The statement added that any attempt to alter regional geography through force would invite consequences that would not remain limited in scope.
The ISPR also criticised what it called India’s record of regional destabilisation, alleging New Delhi had been involved in transnational assassinations, terrorism sponsorship and disinformation campaigns.
According to the military spokesperson, India’s aggressive posture stemmed from frustration over its inability to undermine Pakistan, particularly after recent military developments referred to by the ISPR as “Marka-e-Haq.”
Calling for restraint, the military urged Indian leaders to avoid pushing South Asia towards another confrontation, warning that a future conflict could have devastating implications not only for the two countries but for the wider region as well.
The statement concluded by urging India to accept Pakistan’s regional significance and pursue peaceful coexistence instead of hostile rhetoric.
