Light Rain Sweeps Karachi, More Showers Forecast

Karachi: Karachi experienced light rain and drizzle across several neighborhoods over the past 24 hours, with Gulshan-e-Hadeed recording the city’s highest rainfall at 4.5 millimeters, according to data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Surjani Town received 4 mm of rainfall, followed by Gulshan-e-Maymar with 3.4 mm. The M-9 Motorway recorded 2.3 mm of rain, while Keamari received 1 mm.

Light drizzle was also reported in several parts of the city, including Jinnah Terminal, Old Airport, Korangi, and North Karachi.

The PMD has forecast more rain and thunderstorms for Karachi, saying light to moderate showers are likely in different areas of the city during the next 24 hours as unstable weather conditions persist.

The department said the city’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C, while the minimum temperature recorded during the previous 24 hours was 28.8°C.

Sea breezes were blowing from the southwest at a speed of 11 km/h, with humidity recorded at 78 percent.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather is expected to persist across most parts of Balochistan, although rain is likely in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibi, Loralai, Awaran, Lasbela, Khuzdar and adjoining areas.

Maximum temperatures reached 44°C in Nokundi, 43°C in Sibi, 41°C in Turbat, 39°C in Chaman, 38°C in Quetta, 33°C in Kalat and Zhob, 32°C in Gwadar and Jiwani, while Ziarat remained the coolest at 26°C.
