Kinshasa: The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has entered a more critical phase as confirmed infections continue to rise, placing additional pressure on medical facilities and response efforts.
According to the latest update from Congolese health authorities, the number of confirmed Ebola cases has climbed to 4,053, with the death toll reaching 1,850.
Health officials said 694 patients are currently receiving isolation or hospital care, while 793 people have recovered from the virus.
International medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has warned that the outbreak in eastern DRC is spreading at an alarming pace, describing the situation as more critical than ever.
MSF said the transmission rate remains a major concern, with no clear signs of the outbreak slowing down and urgent measures needed to strengthen medical response and containment efforts.
