Rawalpindi: A fire broke out in a metro bus near Sixth Road in Rawalpindi on Saturday, triggering an immediate emergency response from rescue teams and a temporary suspension of metro operations on the route.

According to rescue officials, the bus was en route from Islamabad to Rawalpindi when it reportedly developed a fault and caught fire near the busy Sixth Road area. The exact cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and launched firefighting operations to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed that all passengers on board were safely evacuated before the fire spread further, preventing any casualties.

A rescue spokesperson said more than a dozen personnel, supported by four emergency vehicles, participated in the operation. The fire was later contained, while cooling and clearance work continued at the site.

Following the incident, authorities temporarily suspended metro bus service on the track as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety and facilitate emergency response operations.
