How Did Smugglers Hide 50kg of Narcotics Inside an Ambulance?

Sukkur: An ambulance allegedly being used as a cover for inter-provincial drug trafficking was intercepted by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Sukkur, leading to the recovery of nearly 50 kilograms of narcotics and the arrest of a suspected member of a drug trafficking network.

The operation was carried out on Shikarpur Road on the basis of intelligence regarding an attempt to transport a large consignment of drugs from Balochistan to Sindh.

According to the ANF, officials searched the ambulance and discovered 49.4 kilograms of narcotics concealed in specially created secret compartments inside the vehicle.

The seized drugs included 36 kilograms of hashish, commonly known as charas, and 13.4 kilograms of methamphetamine, locally referred to as ice.

The suspect arrested during the operation was identified as Liaquat Ali, a resident of Shikarpur. The ANF said he was allegedly associated with an inter-provincial drug trafficking network involved in transporting narcotics between provinces.

Officials said the intelligence network had provided information about the suspected use of an ambulance to conceal the movement of drugs. Surveillance was subsequently intensified before the vehicle was intercepted.

The case has been registered against the suspect under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigation is underway to determine the wider network involved in the alleged smuggling operation.

The use of an ambulance to transport narcotics has raised concerns over the exploitation of emergency vehicles for criminal purposes, potentially undermining public trust in legitimate medical and rescue services.

The ANF said the operation demonstrated its continued efforts to disrupt organized drug trafficking and prevent the movement of narcotics across provincial borders.
