Lahore Braces for Intense Heat as Temperature Soars

Lahore: Lahore is experiencing an intense spell of heat, with rising temperatures disrupting daily life and increasing discomfort for residents.
According to the Meteorological Department, the city’s current temperature has been recorded at 38°C, with the mercury expected to rise to 41°C during the day.
Humidity levels have been measured at 31 percent, while light winds are blowing at around 6 kilometers per hour, offering little relief from the heat.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Weather experts say no rainfall is expected on Sunday, which could further intensify both heat and humidity conditions in the city.

Punjab Police Deploy Over 4,000 Personnel for Security of Cattle Markets
Punjab Police have placed cattle markets across the province on high alert and deployed more than 4,000 officers and personnel to ensure security for traders and buyers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, security arrangements have been strengthened on the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, as a large number of citizens continue to visit cattle markets with only two days left until Eid-ul-Azha.
He said over 4,000 personnel have been deployed at 222 cattle markets across Punjab, including more than 600 personnel assigned to six markets in Lahore.
The IG Punjab directed officers to ensure comprehensive security measures for all visitors and warned that only officially approved cattle markets would be allowed to operate, with strict action against illegal setups and unauthorized sale points.
He further instructed law enforcement units to implement effective patrolling plans to curb activities of fraudsters, pickpockets, and other criminal elements. Police Response Units and patrolling squads have been directed to maintain visible presence around markets.
Region-wise deployment details show 150 personnel in 23 cattle markets of Sheikhupura Region, 525 in 44 markets of Gujranwala Region, over 340 in 22 markets of Rawalpindi Region, 170 in 22 markets of Sargodha Region, and more than 538 in 19 markets of Faisalabad Region.
In addition, over 480 personnel have been deployed in 20 cattle markets in Multan Region, more than 230 in 11 markets in Sahiwal Region, over 410 in 29 markets in Bahawalpur Region, and over 210 in 26 markets in DG Khan Region, the spokesperson added.
