7 Hasina Associates Get Death Sentences in 2024 Uprising Case

Dhaka: Seven associates of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the 2024 mass uprising.
A three-member tribunal delivered the verdict, with former Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader among those sentenced to death.
According to the ruling, all seven convicts are fugitives and are currently believed to be residing in India.
The tribunal also ordered the confiscation of 50% of the assets belonging to the fugitives. The seized assets are to be distributed as compensation among families affected by the alleged cries.
The seven individuals were tried on charges related to crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the protests and unrest that swept Bangladesh in 2024.
The verdict marks another major development in legal proceedings against senior figures associated with the former Awami League government following the uprising.
