Saudi Airstrikes Hit 54 Sites Across Yemen

Sana’a: Fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Houthi fighters has intensified across several fronts in Yemen, with Saudi warplanes carrying out heavy airstrikes on 54 locations over the past 24 hours, according to Houthi sources cited by Al Jazeera.

The reported strikes targeted areas in Lahj, Taiz, Al-Jawf, Marib and Hajjah. In Taiz, airstrikes in the Dhubab and Maqbanah districts reportedly killed three people, including two children, and injured two others.

Meanwhile, Yemeni government forces have advanced in Taiz, reportedly recapturing several strategically important defensive positions from Houthi fighters.

The intensified air campaign has also prompted the Houthis to change their battlefield tactics. According to the report, Houthi fighters have increasingly moved away from exposed positions and adopted more concealed and covert operations to avoid detection and airstrikes.

Although no major direct ground clashes have been reported in western Yemen, Saudi-led coalition aircraft continue to strike areas under Houthi control whenever suspected fighter positions are identified.

The Houthis, meanwhile, have continued attacks against oil facilities and strategic military installations inside Saudi Arabia.

Yemeni Prime Minister Shaya Mohsin Al-Zindani has expressed concern over the escalating Houthi attacks along the western front, saying efforts to end the insurgency and restore state authority across Yemen, including in Hodeidah, would continue.

Al-Zindani also accused the Houthi militia of repeating tactics involving violence, killings and forced displacement to impose control over local populations.

The escalation has raised further concerns over the humanitarian situation, with reports of civilian deaths and property damage emerging as fighting between Yemen’s internationally recognized government and Houthi forces intensifies across multiple fronts.
