Final Monsoon Spell to Lash Punjab From Today

Lahore: The ninth and final spell of monsoon rains has begun in Punjab, with widespread rainfall expected across the province from September 12 to 17, raising concerns over urban and flash flooding in several major cities.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), rain is forecast in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock and several other districts during the spell.
The PDMA has warned of possible urban and flash flooding in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad and directed relevant departments to remain on high alert and ensure necessary preparations.
The Meteorological Department has also cautioned about the risk of landslides in Murree, Galyat and other hilly and mountainous areas due to the expected rainfall.
Meanwhile, parts of Sindh are also likely to receive rain from Sunday, with rainfall activity expected to increase from Sunday evening.
According to the forecast, windstorms and rain may affect Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan through September 16.
Rain is also expected in Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro during the period.
Karachi is likely to receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly from September 14 to 16.
Authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution during the rainy spell and directed relevant departments to finalize arrangements to deal with potential urban flooding, flash floods, landslides and other weather-related hazards.
