Karachi Residents Protest Against Water Supply Shortage

News Desk

Islamabad: Residents of Federal B Area in Karachi protested against water shortage and blocked the Shahrah-e-Pakistan.

After negotiations with the area MPA and Water Corporation officials, the highway was reopened for traffic.

According to traffic police, residents of Federal B Area Block-13 staged a protest near the water pump on Shahrah-e-Pakistan. They closed the road to traffic to highlight their grievances over the non-supply of water for a month.

The protest caused long queues of vehicles to form on Shahrah-e-Pakistan, causing inconvenience to citizens.

Member of Sindh Assembly Adil Askari and Water Corporation officers arrived to meet the protestors and assured them that water supply would resume soon.

However, the protestors stated that they would continue their protest until the water supply was restored.

As a result of the protest, traffic heading to Sohrab Goth from Shahrah-e-Pakistan was suspended, while traffic coming from Nasirabad was diverted from Gulbarg Signal to Water Pump.

After successful negotiations between Water Corporation officials and the protestors, the demonstration on Shahrah-e-Pakistan came to an end.

Subsequently, the flow of traffic on Pakistan Road was restored.
