PTI Eyes Citywide Rally if Karachi Event Is Blocked

Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has prepared an alternative strategy for its planned September 6 rally in Karachi, with the party considering a mobile gathering if authorities do not grant permission for a conventional public meeting on Shahrah-e-Qaideen.
Sources said the party has arranged specially equipped trucks that could serve as moving stages, allowing PTI leaders to address supporters at different locations across the city rather than holding the event at a single venue.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other senior PTI leaders are expected to travel on the main truck. Additional trucks will reportedly be equipped with sound systems, lighting and facilities for a mobile stage.
Party workers are also preparing arrangements to decorate the main stage and enable leaders to deliver speeches at locations where the convoy stops.
According to sources, Afridi’s main address is planned for Shahrah-e-Qaideen. However, if permission for the gathering is not granted, the PTI leadership is considering turning the event into a citywide rally, with the chief minister potentially addressing supporters from different points along the route.
The development highlights the party’s attempt to keep its political mobilisation plans intact despite uncertainty over permission for the proposed gathering.
PTI has formally announced the September 6 rally on Shahrah-e-Qaideen, while Karachi PTI President Faheem Khan has submitted an application seeking official permission to hold the event.
The proposed mobile-rally strategy could allow the party to maintain visibility and political momentum even if authorities restrict the use of a fixed venue. It would also shift the nature of the event from a conventional public meeting to a moving political demonstration across Karachi.
