News Desk
Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has busted an alleged illegal kidney transplant network operating in Islamabad and arrested nine suspects, including a prominent urologist and a private hospital employee, during a crackdown on unlawful organ trafficking.
According to FIA officials, the arrests were made by the Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad Zone during an investigation into a suspected kidney trafficking racket involving illegal extraction and transplantation of human organs.
An FIA team raided a private hospital in Islamabad where illegal kidney transplant procedures were allegedly being carried out. The arrested individuals included a doctor, hospital staff members, alleged donors, recipients and other people linked to the network.

All suspects were shifted to FIA offices for interrogation and legal action, officials said.
Investigators revealed that the network allegedly targeted financially vulnerable people from underdeveloped areas of South Punjab, particularly Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan. Poor individuals were reportedly persuaded to sell their kidneys for small amounts, while the organs were later sold through illegal channels for massive profits.
Officials said the investigation had been expanded to trace other facilitators and members of the network, adding that further raids were underway.
The FIA reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against illegal organ trade, human exploitation and organized criminal networks operating in the country.
