According to the PTA, scammers often attempt to steal personal and financial information by sending malicious links via SMS and social media or by impersonating bank officials to obtain sensitive details such as account numbers and PINs.
Emphasizing that “caution is the best defense,” the authority advised the public to avoid engaging with suspicious messages or calls and never share confidential information through unsecured channels.
To facilitate reporting, the PTA has provided multiple complaint channels, including its official portal and the PTA CMS mobile application.

For cybercrimes and online harassment, citizens have been directed to contact the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) through its helpline. In cases involving mobile banking fraud or unauthorized financial transactions, the public has been advised to immediately inform the State Bank of Pakistan.
The PTA reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the country’s digital ecosystem, reminding users that legitimate institutions never request passwords or financial credentials via phone calls or unverified links.
