Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has stressed the need for national unity, economic stability and agricultural development, saying Pakistan must work collectively to strengthen the federation and ensure long-term prosperity.

Addressing a public gathering in Moro city of Naushahro Feroze district, the president said the government was focused on improving the economy, boosting agricultural output and enhancing the living standards of the people.

“We will together strengthen the hands of the establishment, strengthen our own hands, and strengthen the country,” Zardari said while interacting with local notables and elected representatives during his visit to the residence of Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar.

He said Pakistan needed to achieve food self-sufficiency and economic resilience to emerge as a stronger and more stable nation.

Highlighting the government’s priorities, Zardari said efforts were underway to increase per-acre agricultural yield, raise farmers’ incomes and address public hardships through long-term planning aimed at benefiting future generations.

The president also pointed to development projects in Gwadar, expressing confidence that they would bring positive economic transformation to Balochistan and the country as a whole.

Reaffirming his party’s commitment to democratic principles, Zardari said the PPP would continue working under the framework of the 1973 Constitution while taking measures to empower citizens.

During his speech, he also criticised India over its treatment of Muslims and the situation in occupied Kashmir, accusing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of denying Kashmiris their rights.

Referring to the May 2025 military confrontation, Zardari said Pakistan had demonstrated its defence capabilities during the four-day escalation and exercised restraint despite having the capacity to inflict greater damage.

He also paid tribute to former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, former premier Benazir Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto, saying they had sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
