PMD Issues Heatwave Alert Across Sindh Until May 31

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that moderate to severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist across most districts of Sindh until May 31, with temperatures expected to soar well above normal levels.

According to the Met Office, temperatures in Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu and Nawabshah may rise between 47°C and 50°C during the ongoing heatwave spell.

Similarly, Mohenjo Daro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Khairpur are expected to experience temperatures 4°C to 6°C above normal.

The Meteorological Department further said that temperatures in Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Jamshoro could range between 44°C and 47°C, prompting authorities to remain alert and take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to experience hot and humid weather over the next three days. The Met Office said strong winds are likely to continue intermittently in the city.

According to the forecast, Karachi’s temperature may reach 37°C today and tomorrow, while it could rise to 38°C on Saturday. Sea breezes from the southwest are expected to continue during this period.
