Islamabad: Hyundai has unveiled the 2027 Tucson, marking a major design shift for the popular crossover as the company moves away from the softer styling of the outgoing model.

The fifth-generation Tucson adopts Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, giving the SUV a more angular and muscular appearance.

At the front, the new Tucson features a full-width lighting bar complemented by vertical, H-shaped LED daytime running lights. Hyundai has also used indirect lighting to create a soft glow across the three-dimensional front fascia.

The redesigned SUV features squared-off front and rear quarter panels, sharper lines across the doors and more prominent rocker panels. At the rear, a light bar is paired with slim vertical prism-shaped lamps featuring protruding three-dimensional lenses.

Larger dimensions, more cabin space

The 2027 Tucson has also grown in size, measuring 185 inches in length, about 2.3 inches longer than its predecessor. Its track has been widened by 1.5 inches, while the wheelbase now measures 109.6 inches.

The additional dimensions are expected to improve both road manners and interior space. Rear passengers gain more than an inch of headroom, while wider-opening rear doors are designed to make entering and exiting easier.

New technology-focused cabin

Inside, Hyundai has completely redesigned the cabin. The previous generation’s twin curved displays have been replaced by a single tablet-style Pleos infotainment system.

The dashboard features floating elements, orange accents and air vents dividing the upper and lower sections. A slim digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, accompanied by a four-spoke squircle-shaped steering wheel.

The center console includes wireless smartphone charging pads, while the cabin combines soft-touch materials with a redesigned transmission tunnel and storage-focused layout.

XRT returns with rugged styling

Hyundai will also offer the Tucson XRT for customers looking for a more rugged appearance.

The XRT receives a boxier front bumper, distinctive rear bumper, prominent skid plate, unique badging and black exterior accents. Inside, protective floor mats are included for the second row, while touch-sensitive LED tailgate lights add another distinctive feature.

Hyundai has yet to reveal detailed powertrain specifications, but the new Tucson is expected to retain petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.

The SUV will make its global debut in October, with sales in South Korea expected to begin shortly afterward. Deliveries to major international markets are scheduled to follow in early 2027.
