Court awards life terms to two in Chaklala murder case

Rawalpindi: A court has sentenced two criminals to life imprisonment and additional jail terms in a robbery-cum-murder case in Rawalpindi, following what police described as effective investigation and prosecution.

According to a Rawalpindi Police spokesperson, the convicts, identified as Yasin and Dawood, had killed a citizen by firing at him during a robbery at a house within the limits of Chaklala Police Station in January 2024.

The court awarded both convicts life imprisonment and a fine of Rs500,000 each for the murder charge. They were also sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment and fined Rs500,000 each for the robbery offence.

The sentences amount to life imprisonment along with an additional 20 years in prison and a combined fine of Rs1 million for each convict, according to police.

The police spokesperson said the convictions were secured on the basis of solid evidence and effective prosecution of the case.

He termed the punishment of criminals involved in serious offences a victory for truth and justice, adding that Rawalpindi Police would continue efforts to ensure that offenders were brought to justice.
