Over 283kg drugs seized in eight operations

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested nine suspects in eight operations across different cities and recovered 283.9 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs25.5 million, according to an ANF spokesperson.
The operations were conducted at airports, courier facilities, motorways and other locations as part of an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking.
At Islamabad International Airport, ANF officials arrested a passenger travelling to Jeddah after recovering 590 grams of ice allegedly concealed in his shoes.
In another operation at a Rawalpindi courier office, officials recovered 4.16 kilograms of ice concealed in clothes inside a parcel.
ANF personnel also intercepted a vehicle near the Motorway Toll Plaza in Rawalpindi and recovered 62.4 kilograms of hashish and 37.2 kilograms of opium. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.
In a separate operation at the same toll plaza, 99.6 kilograms of hashish was recovered from another vehicle, resulting in the arrest of two more suspects.
In Lahore, ANF officials recovered 12 kilograms of opium from a house in a housing society and arrested a suspect.
Another operation on Karachi’s Northern Bypass led to the recovery of 36 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle near Karachi Restaurant, with two suspects taken into custody.
Officials also recovered 7.2 kilograms of hashish from a suspect near Swan Bridge Rawalpindi Bus Terminal.
In Dalbandin, Chagai district, ANF personnel recovered 25 kilograms of opium during another operation.
The ANF spokesperson said cases had been registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and further investigations were underway.
