Petrol, Diesel Prices Raised by Nearly Rs27 per Litre

Islamabad: The federal government on Friday announced a significant increase in fuel prices, raising both petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs26.77 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.
The revised rates came into effect from April 25, 2026, and will remain applicable for one week. Following the hike, the price of petrol has surged to Rs393.35 per litre, while HSD has climbed from Rs353.42 to Rs380.19 per litre.
The government has been reviewing petroleum prices on a weekly basis every Friday night in the wake of volatility triggered by the recent Middle East crisis. In the previous review, authorities had reduced the price of HSD by Rs32.12 per litre, while keeping petrol prices unchanged.
The latest increase comes despite a decline in global oil prices. International markets saw a drop in crude prices on Friday amid renewed hopes for diplomatic progress in the Middle East, raising expectations of easing disruptions in energy supply.

Earlier, oil prices had risen due to concerns over prolonged tensions, including Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and a US blockade of Iranian ports.
However, prices softened after reports emerged that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had arrived in Islamabad, signaling a potential revival of negotiations.
As a result, Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, slipped back below $100 per barrel, reflecting improved market sentiment over a possible de-escalation in the region.
