Iran Araqchi Arrives in Islamabad to Advance Peace Talks

Islamabad: Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araqchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday for high-level talks with Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership, as regional tensions and diplomatic efforts remain in focus.
During his visit, Araqchi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss bilateral relations and evolving developments across the region.
Ahead of his arrival, the Iranian foreign minister said his multi-leg tour, covering Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow, is aimed at maintaining close coordination with key partners and consulting on pressing regional issues.

Diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad had already intensified prior to the visit. Araqchi held discussions with Ishaq Dar, focusing on the regional security situation, ceasefire dynamics, and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts regarding US-Iran relations.
Dar emphasized the need for sustained dialogue, noting that continuous negotiations are essential to ensure peace and stability.
According to Iranian media reports, Araqchi also spoke with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, where both sides reviewed the broader regional situation and ceasefire-related matters.
