Peru’s PM Alberto Resigns Amidst Scandal Over Leaked Audio

Peru: Prime Minister of Peru , Alberto Otarola, has resigned following the leak of audio recordings allegedly implicating him in using his influence to secure government contracts for a woman.

Foreign media reports indicate that the scandal intensified when a channel aired the audio clips of Otarola’s conversation with the woman.
In the leaked audio, Otarola can purportedly be heard instructing the woman to express affection and send her curriculum vitae. Despite denying the accusations leveled against him, an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Prior to his role as Prime Minister, Otarola served as Peru’s Minister of Defense until the conclusion of 2022. He assumed the position of Prime Minister following Dina Bolvarate’s ascension to the presidency.
