Fuel Prices Reduced by Just Rs1.97 Per Litre

Islamabad: The federal government on Friday announced a reduction of Rs1.97 per litre in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, providing modest relief to consumers in its latest weekly fuel price review.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been cut from Rs299.50 to Rs297.53 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now cost Rs309.50 per litre, down from Rs311.47. The revised prices have taken effect immediately.
The latest adjustment comes after fuel prices remained unchanged during the previous two weekly reviews. It also follows a significant reduction announced on June 19, when petrol and diesel prices were slashed by Rs7.40 and Rs6.70 per litre, respectively, after international oil prices eased.
Earlier this week, the government revised the tax structure on petroleum products by increasing the Climate Support Levy from Rs2.50 to Rs5 per litre while reducing the Petroleum Levy by the same amount. The adjustment did not affect retail fuel prices at the time.
Petrol is widely used by motorcycle riders, car owners and public transport commuters, making price changes particularly significant for household budgets. High-speed diesel, meanwhile, is the primary fuel for heavy transport and agricultural machinery, meaning any reduction could gradually ease transportation and farming costs.
Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed periodically based on fluctuations in international oil markets and the exchange rate, with the next revision expected in the coming week.
