Australia Crush Pakistan by 113 Runs in World Cup

Headingley: Australia moved a step closer to securing a place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after registering a dominant 113-run victory over Pakistan in a Group One match at Headingley.
Batting first, Australia posted an imposing total of 199-7 in their allotted 20 overs. Veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry starred with the bat, scoring a superb 71 runs off 48 balls, including nine fours and a six.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets for 31 runs.
Chasing a daunting target of 200, Pakistan’s batting line-up struggled against Australia’s disciplined bowling attack and was bowled out for just 86 runs in 13.4 overs. Opener Muneeba Ali was the lone bright spot, scoring 32 runs from 25 deliveries, while the rest of the batting order failed to offer significant resistance.
Pakistan’s innings was further hampered by three run-outs, contributing to their heavy defeat.

After her impressive batting performance, Perry also made an impact with the ball, taking 2 wickets for just 9 runs. Sophie Molineux also played a key role, finishing with figures of 2 for 6.
Australia suffered an early setback when opener Beth Mooney was dismissed off the very first ball of the innings. Pakistan’s Gull Feroza produced a stunning one-handed catch to send her back to the pavilion.
However, Australia quickly recovered through a crucial 100-run partnership between Ellyse Perry and Georgia Voll for the second wicket. Despite losing a few wickets during the middle overs, Annabel Sutherland and Nicola Carey provided a strong finish with unbeaten knocks of 27 and 26 respectively, helping Australia reach 199.
Pakistan had already been eliminated from the tournament before the match, and the defeat marked their fourth consecutive loss in the competition.
The group stage will conclude with a highly anticipated clash between Australia and India on June 28, a match that could play a decisive role in determining the final semi-final standings.
