Babar Azam Equals Imran Khan’s Historic Record

Islamabad:  Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has entered the history books by equalling a prestigious record held by two of the country’s greatest cricket legends, Imran Khan and Wasim Akram.

Babar achieved the milestone after being named joint Player of the Series during Pakistan’s recent Test tour of the West Indies, taking his overall tally of international Player of the Series awards to 10.

The 31-year-old made a strong comeback as Test captain after replacing Shan Masood and delivered a match-winning performance with the bat. He finished the two-Test series as Pakistan’s leading run-scorer, accumulating 193 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 96.50.

After a modest start in the opening Test, Babar produced a determined half-century in the second innings and followed it with a crucial 88-run knock in the next match, helping Pakistan secure a valuable first-innings lead. He later remained unbeaten during Pakistan’s successful chase of a 75-run target.

Babar shared the latest Player of the Series award with West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves, who impressed with both bat and ball, scoring 111 runs and taking seven wickets during the series.

The award marked Babar’s first such honour in Test cricket, adding to his previous achievements in white-ball formats. He has now won five Player of the Series awards in T20 internationals and four in ODIs.

With this achievement, Babar joined former captains Imran Khan and Wasim Akram at the top of Pakistan’s all-format Player of the Series leaderboard.
