Air Pollution in Lahore Reaches Hazardous Levels

News Desk

Lahore: Air pollution in Lahore has surged to hazardous levels, raising serious health concerns for residents across the city.

According to the latest data, Lahore’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 197, placing it in the “unhealthy” category.

At this level, the air can pose health risks to the general public, while children, the elderly, and people suffering from respiratory or heart diseases face an even greater threat.

With the worsening air quality, Lahore has once again been ranked among the most polluted cities in the world and currently stands third globally in terms of pollution levels.

Environmental experts attribute the deteriorating air quality to multiple factors, including rising vehicle emissions, industrial pollution, construction dust, and seasonal weather patterns that trap pollutants close to the ground.

Health experts have advised citizens to minimize outdoor activities, particularly during peak pollution hours, and to use protective measures such as face masks to reduce exposure to harmful particles in the air.

They also stressed the urgent need for stronger environmental policies and increased public awareness to effectively tackle the growing air pollution crisis in the city.
