When Will Pakistan Sight Muharram Moon?
News Desk
Islamabad: In an advisory, the Met Office said the new moon is expected to be born at 7:54am on June 15, but the age of the moon at sunset on 29 Zil Hajj would not be enough for visibility.
The PMD stated that weather conditions are likely to remain clear in many parts of the country; however, astronomical factors make the crescent sighting unlikely.
According to the department, the moon is expected to set at 7:59pm in Punjab, 8:55pm in Sindh, 8:23pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 8:34pm in Balochistan.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, the moon will set at 8:00pm, while in Azad Jammu and Kashmir it is expected to remain visible until 8:07pm.

The final announcement regarding the beginning of the Islamic new year and Muharram-ul-Haram will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after receiving moon sighting testimonies from across the country.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has sought deployment of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers personnel across the province to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram.
According to a spokesperson, the request was sent to the Ministry of Interior following recommendations by Punjab Police for additional security support during the religious month.
The Punjab government has requested 137 companies of security personnel for deployment in 39 districts to maintain law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
