Karachi: Concerns over medical safety practices at Walika Hospital have intensified after two more young girls were reportedly diagnosed with HIV, with families alleging that the infections may be linked to negligence during treatment.

According to the families, one of the affected girls was receiving care at the hospital for a chest infection. Her condition failed to improve, prompting doctors to conduct further tests, which later confirmed she was HIV positive.

The girl’s father said his daughter had undergone treatment at Walika Hospital and that the diagnosis came as a shock after her health continued to deteriorate.

Another case involves a three-year-old girl from the Metroville area, who has also reportedly tested positive for HIV. Her family said she too had received treatment at the same hospital before her condition worsened and medical tests confirmed the infection.

The reports have sparked concern among residents and raised questions about infection control procedures, screening practices, and patient safety standards at healthcare facilities.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the infections or establish whether there is any direct link between the cases and treatment received at Walika Hospital. Further investigation and medical assessments are expected to determine the circumstances behind the diagnoses.
