Lahore: The death of a 12-year-old domestic worker in Lahore has prompted a murder investigation after her family alleged she was subjected to torture while employed at a house in the city’s Gulberg 3 area.

Police have registered a case following a complaint by the girl’s father, Javed, and have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to the first information report (FIR), Javed, a resident of Jaranwala, said his daughter, Kaneez Fatima, had been working as a domestic worker at the residence of Sufi Ijaz in Gulberg 3.

He told investigators that he received a call from a woman identified as the homeowner’s daughter-in-law, who asked him to travel immediately to a hospital in Lahore.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Javed said doctors informed him that his daughter had already died before being brought in.

The grieving father has alleged that his daughter was tortured and killed while employed at the residence, leading him to seek legal action against those he believes were responsible.

Police have registered a murder case based on the family’s allegations and said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the girl’s death and establish whether any criminal acts were involved.

Authorities have not yet announced any arrests, and the allegations remain under investigation.
