31 Million Children to Receive Polio Drops From Sept 21

Islamabad: Millions of Pakistani households will be visited by polio vaccination teams later this month as health authorities prepare for a week-long campaign targeting children under five across 115 districts.
The sub-national campaign will run from September 21 to 27, with trained workers going door-to-door to administer two drops of oral polio vaccine to every eligible child.
The National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) said around 31 million children are expected to be vaccinated during the campaign, covering selected areas of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Punjab will account for the largest share, with approximately 10.6 million children targeted in 13 districts. In Sindh, around 10 million children will be vaccinated across 30 districts.
The campaign will also cover approximately 7.3 million children in 37 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2.3 million children in 32 districts of Balochistan.
In Islamabad, vaccination teams are expected to reach around 447,000 children, while approximately 137,000 children will be targeted in two selected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The EOC urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with vaccination teams and make sure children under five receive the vaccine during the campaign.
The national programme stressed that reaching every eligible child remains essential to achieving a polio-free future and completely eradicating the disease from Pakistan.
