Qatar-Gifted Aircraft Enters US Presidential Fleet

News Desk

Washington: A new aircraft gifted to the President of the United States by Qatar has been officially unveiled and integrated into the “Air Force One” fleet, according to the US Air Force.

The large passenger aircraft has been upgraded with advanced security features, modern communication systems, enhanced logistical support, and upgraded technology.

Officials claim that any potential security vulnerabilities in the aircraft have been fully addressed.

While the interior design remains largely unchanged, the exterior has been repainted in a new red, white, blue, and gold livery, giving the aircraft a more modern and luxurious appearance.

At the unveiling ceremony, former President Donald Trump described the aircraft as representing an unprecedented level of luxury and quality.

He praised its high-grade woodwork, interior materials, and engines, and thanked the Emir of Qatar, calling the gesture an “honor.”

The aircraft was reportedly gifted by the Qatari royal family in May 2025, a move that previously sparked political debate in the United States.

Critics from both major political parties raised concerns over potential conflicts of interest and constitutional implications, arguing that accepting such an expensive foreign gift posed ethical and legal questions.

Under US law, federal officials are generally restricted to accepting gifts valued up to $480. However, the White House has maintained that the acceptance of the aircraft was legally permissible.

Authorities have also stated that the plane will eventually be transferred to Trump’s presidential library after the conclusion of his presidency.

The US Air Force confirmed that the aircraft will serve temporarily as part of the presidential transport fleet until Boeing completes its long-delayed VC-25B replacement program.

Meanwhile, one of the two Boeing 747-200B aircraft that have been in service since 1990 has been retired, making room for the newly introduced aircraft to support presidential air operations.
