Security operations thwart militant infiltration attempts in KP

Peshawar: Security forces have killed 21 militants in a series of operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between September 3 and 5, according to Pakistan’s military media wing, as authorities step up efforts to prevent militant infiltration and attacks in the province.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations were conducted at multiple locations in KP, targeting militants described by authorities as members of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.

The military said a separate operation was conducted near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan on the night of August 31 and September 1. During the operation, 10 additional militants allegedly attempting to infiltrate Pakistan were killed.

According to the ISPR, the latest operations disrupted attempts by militants to enter the country and increased the reported number of militants killed in the linked operations to 25.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for what he described as a major success against militant groups operating in the region.

Naqvi commended the forces for preventing what he called the militants’ “nefarious intentions” and said the government remained committed to eliminating militant threats.

He also paid tribute to security personnel involved in the operations, saying the nation stood behind the security forces in their efforts against terrorism.

The reported operations come amid continued security concerns along Pakistan’s western border, where authorities have repeatedly raised alarms over militant infiltration and cross-border attacks.
