Punjab Ordered to Resume Afghan Repatriation From April 15

News Desk

Islamabad: The Federal Ministry of Interior has instructed the Punjab government to commence the second phase of operations for the repatriation of Afghan Citizen Card holders starting from April 15.

During a video conference meeting chaired by Federal Interior Secretary Aftab Durrani and attended by Home Secretary Punjab Noorul Amin, along with other senior officials from the Interior Department, the decision was made.

According to reliable sources, the federal government will furnish Punjab with lists of Afghan Citizen Card holders (ACC), which will then be shared with the police and other law enforcement agencies.

Similar to the process for illegal foreigners and Afghan citizens, ACC card holders will be encouraged to return to Afghanistan voluntarily initially.

Following this voluntary phase, those who remain will be apprehended and subsequently deported.

It’s noted that the federal government possesses the data of Afghan citizen card holders, which is expected to streamline the process and eliminate previous challenges in tracing illegal aliens.

Following the conclusion of phase two, discussions have also begun regarding the initiation of phase three, targeting Afghan POR (Proof of Residence) card holders for repatriation.

It’s worth mentioning that over 400,000 illegal foreign Afghans have already been deported thus far.
