PM Departs for Key China Visit to Accelerate CPEC Phase-II

Lahore: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday departed for a four-day official visit to China aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and accelerating investment initiatives under CPEC Phase-II.
The Prime Minister left for Hangzhou in the first phase of the visit, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
During his stay in Hangzhou, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet the Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province and attend a business forum focused on enhancing cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Prime Minister will also participate in a ceremony for the exchange of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), aimed at expanding collaboration in trade, technology, industrial development and investment sectors.

As part of efforts to attract Chinese investment, the Prime Minister is expected to hold meetings with chief executives of leading Chinese firms and visit the headquarters of Alibaba, where cooperation agreements are also expected to be signed.
In the second phase of the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Beijing for meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He will also attend a special event marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
The Prime Minister is further scheduled to meet heads of prominent Chinese companies and visit the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences to explore cooperation in agricultural modernization and research.
Officials said the visit is expected to open new avenues of cooperation under CPEC Phase-II, with a particular focus on industrial collaboration, technology transfer, digital economy partnerships, agriculture, and increased Chinese investment in Pakistan’s export-oriented sectors.
